Pulsatilla NigricansHomeopathy for the Menopause

The menopause is the change in life which signals the end of the child bearing years, fertility and periods.  Women can experience this between the ages of 45 to 55 years, though for a number of reasons it can begin sooner or later.  As oestrogen levels fall many women experience some of the associated symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, dry skin, headaches, memory loss, mood swings and lower libido levels.

Some women experience this transition without complications, but for others the symptoms can be exhausting and distressing. The conventional form of treatment is to replace these falling oestrogen and progesterone levels with Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), but research has shown that this approach is not without risks2.

Homeopathic treatment along with changes in diet and lifestyle, offer a safe and effective alternative for the treatment of these uncomfortable symptoms.  This type of approach is welcomed by many as is it enables a woman to feel more in charge of their own health and body.

2.  The Million Woman Study, a long term NHS led research carried out in 2003, demonstrated that there was significant risk of breast cancer in women taking combined (oestrogen and progesterone) HRT.  It was also found that oestrogen only HRT carries a significant risk of endometrial cancer.
